MINUTES OF THE CELEBRATION OF THE FOURTH OF JULY IN KAYSVILLE.

  • Marshal of the day, Dorr P. Curtis.
  • Committee of arrangements, Samuel Henderson, Charles D. Evans, John Ellison.
  • The assembly convened at the meeting house in the afternoon.
  • Singing and Prayer.
  • The Declaration of Iindependene was read by the marshal of the day.
  • Col. Gleason delivered an interesting address on the necessity of the brethren’s keeping up the military spirit, &c.
  • Songs by Elders Reddick N. Allred and Charles D. Evans.
  • Short address by Elder King.
  • Song, (a medley) br. Leah.
  • Address by Elders Dorr P. Curtis, Reddick N. Allred and Charles D. Evans.
  • Comic songs by brs. Oliverson and Taylor.
  • TOASTS. — The peculiar institutions of Utah — live forever. – [C. D. Evans.
  • May the peculiar institutions of Utah extend end until they circumscribe the earth—R.N. Allred
  • The oppressed of all nations–may the Nauvoo Legion be ever ready and able to defend their rights.—Col. Gleason.
  • A brief interval was allowed for partaking of refreshments.
  • Dancing commenced at 9 p.m., and continued until midnight.
  • Dismissed by Bishop Taylor.
