Student Art Awards

Associated with the Historical Exhibition Redux

Contest is conducted in honor of local artist, LeConte Stewart.

The Kaysville – Fruit Heights Museum Executive Board will announce in March the current contest winners at an awards ceremony, date to be determined. Students from local schools where our communities’ students attend were invited to participate. This included Layton, Farmington and Davis High Schools. Approximately 60 student entries were considered.

First, second and third-place ribbons were awarded along with eight honorable mentions. Each painting was judged on the following categories: originality, creativity, technical skill, composition-design, use of color or value, emotional impact, theme adherence, and overall impression.

Indigenous Peoples in Early Davis County

During April, participating museums in Davis County will be celebrating the presence of indigenous peoples in early Davis County.  The Davis County Museums organization (DCM), an alliance of local county museums, is promoting the schedule of events.  More information will be provided here on our website about the KFH Museum programs as soon as the details become available.  You can also check out the recently created DCM Facebook Group for county-wide information.

Children’s Activity – Feed the Birds in Winter

Quail are birds native to Davis County. It is fun to watch the baby quail following their mother single file while the daddy quail stands guard. You can feed them in winter just like like the native songbirds. Wild quail will hunt for grains and seeds and finish their dinner with insects, plants, small nuts, and berries. Instead of feeding the quail, you can try to draw them using the steps here.
