Heights Museum of History and Art
The public is invited to view a collection of twenty-eight paintings that were originally commissioned for the national bicentennial in 1976. Selected paintings have been reproduced as part of an exhibit that has been revived through a collaboration with the WSU Storytelling Festival and made possible with the help of a grant from Utah Arts and Museums.
We invite you to explore the history of northern Utah through the works of sixteen prominent Utah artists depicting early forts, landscapes, explorers, Native Americans, trappers, pioneers, and industrial development.
The exhibit showcases the works of artists skilled in telling local history stories through the medium of art. Learn about the artists behind the art and discover the ties to local history by downloading the 2023 Bicentennial Art Exhibit Guide, or by viewing our Bicentennial Paintings page. A November 2nd opening reception was held to give supporters a preview of the exhibit.
The artwork attracted the attention of city employees and patrons while it was being assembled in the weeks before its official opening.
The exhibit can be viewed through January 11, 2024, at the Kaysville City Administration Building, 23 East Main Street. Enter from the north side of the building. The paintings are available for viewing Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Friday 8:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Starting January 12, 2024, a part of the exhibit will be moved to the Fruit Heights City Hall foyer at 910 South Mountain Road, where it can be viewed during regular office hours from Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Meanwhile, the other part of the exhibit will remain on display at the Kaysville Administration Building. Both venues will showcase portions of the exhibit throughout 2024, with paintings being rotated between the two locations.
